We have been working hard within our neighbourhood to bring positive change in the local community.

The culmination of all this work was a very successful Neighbourhood Action Day on 14/05/2011 that saw young people working hand in hand with their neighbours in the local community.

A special thank you to the young people who worked fantastically well on the day clearing not just the litter from the streets but tidying the YMCA’s grounds (See the picture above) and to the Operations Team, Housing Team, Teresa Colliass (NAG), Catherine Emin & Richard Carter Thames Valley Police, Reading Borough Council Streetcare Team, Community Payback Team and all who attend monthly stakeholder neighbourhood meetings for their invaluable work on the day.

It is vitally important that young people have the opportunities to express themselves and be seen in a positive light (something that RYMCA offers every individual during their stay with us).

Without these opportunities it is very difficult for young people to have the skills to successfully re-integrate back to their communities and play a full role in society.
